This, That, The Other

Those follicles are still going strong, all within 14-17 mm. My doctor thinks we'll trigger tomorrow (Friday) for a Sunday retrieval. Which is unbelievably good timing, since it's the only day my husband can be there for his part in the process. We have three vials of his frozen "specimen" as a back-up, though.

I'm still relatively noncommittal about the whole thing. Follicles? Great. Retrieval? Sure. If I get to the point where I need a perinatologist, I'll start to think we may be onto something. Until then? Okay, fine, whatever.

As for bed-rest, my tivo is full of late-night shenannigans, Chelsea Lately and Craig Ferguson. I love that Craig - he's wry and sweet at the same time, which turns out to be charming. And Chelsea is lewd and smart, also a good combo. So, I hope they can amuse me for a few days. I have more or less given up on regular TV - it's not that I don't like anything, but I can't commit to keeping up with a plot line of any kind.

My emergency TV is My So-Called Life. I bought the whole thing on DVD a few years ago, but I never watched it. Somehow, I thought it would be best to save it in case I ever really needed to be distracted. I watched the first three discs earlier this year, after the baby died. It seems silly to rely on TV to help you through a crisis, but I have to say the time-wasting was just what I needed.

Other than that, I need to get a good book. A really good book. I loved The Time Traveler's Wife and there are rumors that the author has another book coming out soon - but not soon enough for any upcoming bed rest. So - any suggestions?

If your idea of a "really good book" includes a girl/boy/love/drama plot, I think "Something Borrowed" by Emily Giffin is a great choice. It's the first in a series ("Something Blue" and "Baby Proof follow") - it's addictive; I couldn't put it down on vacation in Mexico last year.

As for the apathy you're feeling, I was there for months until I got to Denver. It is 5:15 AM in Denver right now and I'm clearly not sleeping - I can't, the jitters have begun. I guess it really is hard to remain indifferent, cool and removed from this and have a devil-may-care attitude for too long.

Wishing you huge success with the fresh or frozen hubby! ;)

I have not read anything recommendable in a while, sorry.

I do have all my fingers crossed for you.

Hmmm, I threw the Time Traveler's Wife across the room and screamed at my husband how could his mom be so insensitive to loan me a book that was full of pregnancy loss.

When I was cycling I read the Shopaholic series (except for the baby one, I just read it) it's fun mindless entertainment and there are a bunch of them.

You know, I also have trouble concentrating on movies and tv since I've been struggling with IF. It's kind of like if gives you a form of ADD.

Wonderful news on your follicles. GL

Well even if you're not positively thrilled right now, I am thrilled for you! Several of us will be in a 2ww together and I'm hopeful and excited for us all! I'm glad you mentioned a good book...I need to find one too. Happy trigger!

After only reading the genres that cover dead babies and IVF and infertility, I opted for a change by Belle De Jour- The Intimate Adventures of a London Call Girl. It is true, based on the blog entries of a london high class escort. it was fun and defintely a distraction.

Nothing to recommend, unfortunately. Too much facebooking, twittering, picture scanning, etc. But if I were actually listening to my doctor about extended couch potato time, I would read all the blogs I've been neglecting on my i-phone until my eyes started bleeding.

I know what you mean about the "whatever" feelings; I have that too. I wish you all the best for your transfer!

I'm excited for you too - you should transfer right after me and we can be pg together!

I really enjoyed the Shopaholic series, but I think Kinsella's best book was the Undomestic Goddess. Also if you want mindless brain candy - I will admit I read all four Twilight books (Meyers) and the Charlaine Harris vampire series (that is now True Blood on tv) I swear I don't tend to read vampire books, but there seems to be a lot of them right now.

Hope your ER went well today!

Your apprehension about everything is so understandable. One step at a time just focusing on the task at hand and you will hopefully be "there" so very soon.

Hugs and all my best...
