Bedrest, Schmedrest...

My too-sick-to-move husband has gone to NY. Yep, couldn't manage a trip to the drugstore, but going to the absolutely other side of the country was okay. Hmmm...

To be fair, he didn't want to go - but he didn't even try to get out of it. And, also to be fair, when you are self-employed you are always semi-worried that you may never work again, so you do things you might not do if you had a regular job. It's not like there's someone else to be sent in his place. He's not only the business, he's the product, too. So, while I admire his determination and his commitment...

I am pretty sure things will be worse when he gets back.

Meanwhile, I am allowed up a bit more now, with all kinds of warnings to take it slowly. I waft slowly around the house like someone playing a ghost in bad community theater. It takes me half an hour to fold a load of laundry.

My favorite new item is one of those grabber-things with a handle on one end and pinchers on the other, so I don't have to bend and twist if I need to pick things up from the floor. I ordered it from Amazon, which tracks your orders and suggests other things you might like based on recent purchases. When I signed in this morning, Amazon wanted to know if I'd like a J-shaped handle to hold the toilet paper so that I don't have to twist to reach behind me when I wipe...

Should have just bought the grabber at the hardware store. And paid cash. Am kind of worried about the database associated with my credit card now.

Ah, sorry that DH has to travel. Hoping he has a miraculous recovery while on the road :-) Take it easy! I think the purchase was a good idea but boo-hiss Amazon for the next purchase suggestion.... (Although I do have to admit I chuckled a bit!) Hanging in there, Lorraine and don't overdo it!

OK stop making me laugh--those grabbers ARE funny and so is that additional purchase suggestion.

Now I want to know more about your DH's job where he is the product...it sounds interesting. I guess my DH's 'second job' he's the product too...kind of a funny way to look at it.

I hope he's back soon!

Hee hee, thanks for the laugh!

And isn't it a miracle how guys recover just in time for things that they have to do? ;) Take it easy while he's gone!

Your sarcasm fits me to a T. (-; Please do keep us updated on the Amazon suggestions.

Those men are some tricky creatures. At least you have your couch back.

ps I sitll owe you and email!! I'm about 8 deep at the moment, but hope to catch up tonight so consider this your warning. (-;

Well hopefully your husband won't come home sicker than when he left. At least you got the couch back in the interim!

Hey, my grandmother had some cool reaching-handle-pinchers when I was a kid and I thought they were great fun (she used them to get a box of cereal from a high shelf). So I guess the great Amazon brain tried to think what other things you might need help reaching. Ahem.

Have a great weekend!

Oh, so very funny. I can't even imagine such a gadget. I think I'm going to have to go to Amazon and look it up just so I can see what it is. It actually sounds really gross to me.

Hope DH is healthy soon.

Watch out! You might start getting e-mails now for all kinds of nifty devices - how to clean your ears while sitting on your hands!
Please keep moving nice and slow...it sounds like you're doing wonderfully!
Love,
Maddy

LOL! I hope it never gets bad enough for you to need TP support. ;)

I'm already hating picking up things, and apparently being pregnant makes you have the dropsies.

Ha! I am excited to hear what new things Amazon thinks you need! All sorts of handy devices I'm sure. I am really trying to take it easy, but DH is really making it hard (sounds about like yours) - would totally let him stew in his own mess if it weren't for the 8yo. Ah well, hope he gets better while he's gone (your guy). Good luck!
